Universal Oneness Celebration

August 29, 2026 · 2:00–5:30 PM ET

New York City

Join the Hindu American community for an afternoon of shared teaching, cultural performance, and common ground.

Universal Oneness — One Source of Energy

A Gathering Rooted in Shared Source

The Universal Oneness Celebration gathers the Hindu American community around a simple, ancient teaching: all of creation shares one source of energy, and from that source flows our duty to treat every being with respect and humility.

Held on Raksha Bandhan — a day that celebrates the bonds between us — this gathering affirms that unity, not separation, is the foundation of a healthy society.

"When you present nature as your slave, and nature is there for fulfilling our needs and greed, then the exploitation starts. But if you teach that we are all having one source of energy and we are all part of it — in my tradition, the Hindu tradition says that you have to respect every other creature, and they are equal to us. The same source of energy that is present in me is present in you, and that is present within all the flora and fauna. Because of this universal oneness, this will not only teach us to treat others with respect and humility, but also to treat the whole creation as one, and we are all part of that one truth."

From the Universal Oneness Celebration vision

To live by this teaching is to see the world as kin — every person, every tradition, every living thing.

The Program

A Cultural Program Rooted in Shared Values

The event will feature a cultural program — performances, music, and artistic expressions — curated to embody the principles of Universal Oneness. Art has always been the living language of philosophy; the program gives these ideals sound, movement, and form.

Through performance and creative expression, attendees will experience — not merely hear — what it means to hold all of creation as one.

  • Oneness with nature — artistic expressions of our relationship to the living world and the energy that animates all things
  • Community service as spiritual practice — celebrating the tradition of selfless service woven through Hindu American civic life
  • Unity across traditions — drawing from the full breadth of Indian cultural and philosophical heritage to affirm what we hold in common
